WESTFORD, Mass. -- A man was struck and killed by a tractor trailer on Route 495 Friday morning.
The crash happened around 8:45 a.m. near the Boston Road exit in Westford.
State Police said a man stopped his 2009 Chevrolet Impala in the breakdown lane and was struck by a 2009 Freightliner when he exited his vehicle.
The tractor trailer was driven by George Orchard, 45, of Chichester, N.H.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The break down lane and the right travel lane were closed for about 30 minutes after the crash.
Authorities are investigating.
