Woman accused of stealing 750K from employer
BOSTON -- Prosecutors say a 46-year-old Westborough accountant has been arrested on charges that she stole more than $750,000 from an environmental engineering company to fund a lavish lifestyle.
The Suffolk District Attorney's office said on Thursday said Cynthia Goldberg is accused of obtaining three credit cards in the name of the Brighton-based business and its head, billing personal purchases to the company's bank account and using the firm's two legitimate business credit cards to pay for expenses.
Prosecutors also allege the suspect, also known as Cynthia Kussy and Cynthia McDonnell, wrote herself checks from the company's account and cashed them to buy lingerie, stay in a fancy hotel, tanning salons and limousine services.
Goldberg pleaded not guilty Wednesday to 20 charges, including larceny over $250. Her attorneys did not immediately respond to a message left after office hours.
