Authorities: Lowell slaying not 'random'

LOWELL, Mass. -- Officials say a fatal shooting in Lowell last weekend is now a homicide investigation.

Police say 22-year-old Johnny Drinosky was shot in the head early Saturday morning and died in a Boston hospital on Sunday night. He was inside a Howard Street apartment, and the gun was fired from outside the home.

A spokesman for Middlesex District Attorney's office tells The Sun of Lowell that the shooting does not appear to be a random event.

Authorities say "multiple shots" were fired and that several people were inside the house at the time of the shooting.

One other person, whose name has not been released, was shot in the leg.

Lowell police are appealing to the public for help in the case.
