11-month-old baby found safe in Sandwich; father arrested
SANDWICH, Mass. -- A desperate search for a missing baby girl ended Tuesday with the child found safe.
Police arrested John Fielding in Sandwich at a friend's house. His 11-month-old daughter Kiah Fielding is doing well.
Kiah was taken from her mother's home on Old Main Street in Yarmouth Tuesday evening. Police said Fielding was drunk when he beat up Kiah's mother and took the child.
Police were concerned for the Kiah's safety, searching for the girl for more than four hours.
Officers said Fielding actually called police when he found out they were looking for him.
When police arrived to arrest Fielding, officers said he became unruly and very confrontational. He admitted to police that he had been drinking.
Investigators told 7NEWS that Kiah's mother recently took a restraining order out against Fielding, which officers said he violated Tuesday.
According to police, Fielding is facing charges of domestic assault and battery, violating a restraining order and child endangerment.
He will not face kidnapping charges because he shares custody with the girl's mother.
Fielding will be back in court Monday for a dangerousness hearing.
