Mother, child injured when car crashes into Walmart
DANVERS, Mass. -- A car crashed through the front of a Walmart in Danvers Tuesday morning, injuring a mother and her 1-year-old child.
The accident happened around 10 a.m. at Brooksby Village Drive on Route 114.
According to police, a 93-year-old driver was behind the wheel of his Toyota Camry when it plowed into the store.
The driver was apparently looking for a handicap parking spot when he his foot hit the gas, ending up 25 to 30 feet inside the building. His wife was in the passenger seat.
Sgt. Robert Bettencourt says mother and child were taken to a hospital with head cuts that are not considered life-threatening.
At least four other people not involved in the crash were taken to the hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
