Missing RI man turns up, charged with larceny
UXBRIDGE, Mass. -- A Rhode Island man who went missing three months ago just before he was charged with stealing from his Massachusetts-based employer has turned himself in.
Police say 52-year-old Joseph DeSilva of Tiverton turned himself into authorities in his home town Tuesday and waived extradition to Massachusetts.
He was ordered held on $50,000 bail after pleading not guilty at his arraignment in Uxbridge District Court on Wednesday on a larceny charge.
He is accused of stealing about $75,000 from his company, Core-Mark International Inc. in Northbridge. DeSilva was a salesman for the food distribution company.
DeSilva was last seen in Fall River on March 11. Authorities believe he went to the South because bills he paid while missing were postmarked in Georgia.
