House of Blues to bring more than 200 jobs to city
BOSTON -- The House of Blues is bringing a lot of buzz to Boston.
In these tough economic times, the new venue is also sending signals of hope - looking to hire as many as 200 people for various positions.
While many businesses are letting people go, the soon-to-open House of Blues on Landsdown Street is hiring.
The General Manager said she needs about 200 workers, from bouncers to bartenders.
"We're happy and pleased with the participation were getting and it's great to generate economic activity in the area. We're very excited about it, and the House of Blues coming back it's a rebirth. You know, the city buzzing and so are we," said Julie Jordan, the general manager of the House of Blues.
The house of blues closed its Cambridge location in 2003. They're hoping to bring bands and nightlife back to Boston -- and for many people, a much needed paycheck.
"I have job, looking for better one, trying to promote myself in life, trying to exceed," said one applicant.
At the end of the day, only a small percentage of the 1500 people expected to apply will have a job, but they are just happy to hearing people are hiring.
"This area, and the way the world is right now, yeah I'm a little bit worried about it. Hope for the best though, you can't be pessimist," said another applicant.
The job fair continues Wednesday at the House of Blues from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The GM plans to let people know if they are hired by next week so that they can begin training.
The House of Blues officially opens February
