An unusual item is up for sale by one police department. It's a five-speed, motorized recliner with nitro boost...and it could be yours!
Police confiscated the chair when the previous owner crashed his La-Z-Boy into a parked car. Now the chair is up for auction on eBay!
The chair comes with a radio, cassette player, and nitrous oxide tanks.
The chair's previous owner Dennis Anderson figures he spent about four to five hundred dollars to build his souped-up riding recliner creation. It'll cost him another thousand dollars and more to pay his DUI ticket he received while driving it.
Under Minnesota state law, he also had to forfeit the La-Z-Boy to local police.
Police chief Walter Wobig says he's received calls from all over the world about the chair.
Twenty bids on eBay became 30 and now 89 bids later and with two days left, it's almost up to $40,000.
Any money earned will go towards helping the community. The police department, which has seen its share of budget cuts, will get a slice of the profits.
As for Anderson, he now has his own eBay auction: an autographed picture of him sitting in his old chair. With three days left, the current bid is $202.50. All proceeds will go to pay his fine and his attorney.
The fine and legal woes aren't keeping Anderson's dreams down. He says he has plans to build a bigger and better recliner.
