All That Makes Cents

High energy costs can break the bank, but there are simple ways to save without a lot of sacrifice.

Start by swapping out your most used incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent ones.

Melissa Klein, EPA's Energy Star Program
"People can save $30 per bulb over the life of the bulb."

Keep showers to 5 minutes or less.
And switch to a low-flow shower head to save you up to $145 a year.

Wash your laundry in cold water whenever possible.

Melissa Klein, EPA's Energy Star Program
"Ninety percent of energy to power up a clothes washer goes towards heating the water."

By changing the water temperature you can save between $30 and $40 a year.

Always unplug electronics and chargers that aren't in use, they still use electricity.

Brian Kearney, National Grid
"It's all adding up. It's all using a little bit of energy."

Now that makes cents!
