Room For Improvement reports

It's time to get away without leaving the house. Our designers are creating a relaxing bedroom escape for some busy parents. But will they love their quiet sanctuary? 7's Lauren Przybyl tells us in today's "Room For Improvement."

There's not too many quiet moments in the Adduci home anymore. Kevin and Austin keep mom and dad very busy. That's why these parents want to make sure their bland bedroom becomes a sophisticated retreat.

Bill Adduci, homeowner
"I want the room to be a relaxing oasis."

Janet Adduci, homeowner
"Somewhere without a lot of toys."

To help create the room of their dreams, designer Linda Merrill of Chameleon Interiors took charge.

Linda Merrill, Chameleon Interiors
"They've lived here a couple years, but they've had two kids and careers and busy and they just had not had a chance to do anything with the bedroom."

First, Nelson Painting covered the walls with a pale purple.

The furniture stayed, but the bed was updated with a comfy custom-made headboard. A light green comforter was laid down, and lots of decorative pillows enhanced the contemporary look.

Linda Merrill, Chameleon Interiors
"We brought in the colors, the blues and greens and teals and a little purple."

To accentuate the mood the bare windows were draped with matching curtains, candle sconces added a calming feeling and a green runner and fresh flowers gave an adult touch to the bureau.

Then turquoise accessories added an extra burst of color while still maintaining the soothing feel.

Linda Merrill, Chameleon Interiors
"With just these, little hits of a brighter color just to add some punctuation to the various spaces of the room. So, the eye travels around the room and not just on one focus."

Did our busy parents love their new hideaway?

Janet Adduci, homeowner
"Wow, what do you think? Looks great! Looks awesome. We love it."

Bill Adduci, homeowner
"Very nice!"

As you can see, they aren't the only ones who like this room. This cost $1,100 to redo. Now, all this couple needs is a little alone time.
