Room For Improvement reports

In our latest "Room for Improvement," a little boy with a love for animals gets a giant surprise: an African Safari in his own bedroom! 7's Chikage Windler takes us to Winchester for the transformation.

"H! We're here!" says Re-deux Design's Carol Iberger as she and fellow designer Karin Curtin walk in.

They're designing a fantasy room for 3-year-old Alden Martin.

He's outgrown his baby room.

His father Scott Martin says, "We really want to move him into another room that is more in tune with his age"

That's why Alden's parents had this addition built on. But Alden's new room has been empty for months.

"We just didn't have any idea when we'd be able to get it done and we thought this would be a great way, a great opportunity for us," explains Alden's mother Camilla.

The goal: create a room with personality, play space, and room to grow.

Carol Iberger of Re-Deux Design says "Alden is an adorable little boy who brought his little jungle animals to us and told us that he liked the elephant and the tiger, so we went off on a jungle theme."

First step, brushing on an earthy green.

Painter Tony Gaudet of Living Color Painting says, "Everything was white, white, white which had no character whatsoever. So adding this nice serene green color really gave it some warmth."

Animal accents on everything from the bed to wall hooks to lighting make you feel like you're on safari. The king of the jungle: Curious George. And then there's the finishing touch:

"I love the palm that we put over the table and chairs, because it was different, unique, made it feel like a cozy little nook for him," says Carol Iberger.

Karin Curtin of Re-deux Design says "I think Alden's going to like it for the next five, six years and it'll be easy to change out when he gets a little bit older too."

And when he sees it...

"Oh my gosh! Wow! Look at your room!" exclaims Alden's mother Camilla.

...he goes "bananas."

"Look at my animal!" Alden says.

Tarzan was never happier.

The budget for Alden's jungle room was $1400 dollars and our Design Team came in at $1300.
