An important warning is out today from the Consumer Product Safety Commission. It says the crib your baby is sleeping in could be dangerous.

The results of a new study are prompting the CPSC to warn parents that any clutter in a baby's crib could cause a baby to suffocate. They're advising parents to never put pillows or other soft bedding in babies' cribs according to a three-year study. The CPSC says between 2002 and 2004 nearly one hundred children suffocated when lying face down on pillows or other bedding.

"I think the thing to keep in mind is simple is safe. I think the biggest problems are the comforters and a pillow that kids could get strangulated with. I think also loose fitting cribs that aren't put together correctly or older cribs increase the risk of injury," said Dr. Michelle Day from MassGeneral Hospital for Children.

The CPSC also recommends that babies in cribs should lay on their backs. Doctors also warn that if you can fit two fingers between a crib's mattress and the side of the crib that it's too much space and could be dangerous to a baby.
