Smoother skin

We use moisturizers and creams, serums and gels...All to keep our faces soft and healthy. But some women say the trick to their baby soft skin is a new twist to an old fashioned treatment.

"It smoothed out my skin, my skin feels really clean and smooth," dermaplaning client, Dana Walker, said.

It's the art of shaving elevated to a whole new level. Dermaplaning is gaining fans by shaving off the dead skin cells and taking away the peach fuzz so many women have.

"It works well there's no downtime, it's effective and it's fun to be able to have it done and walk out and look better right away," plastic surgeon, Dr. Craig Hobar, said.

"This is a wonderful treatment for ladies on Retin-A because they can't have waxing for the lip area," Kim Harden, a Baylor aesthetician, said.

It takes a steady hand to keep the surgical blade gently scraping the surface layer.

"You have to hold the blade very straight and pull the skin taut," Harden said.

Skin experts say it plays an important role in helping women look as good as they can.

"To make your skin look really good now exfoliation is critical," Dr. Hobar said.

In 45 minutes, Dana is done, with a face that feels as good as it looks.

"It gives you a more polished look," Dana said.

Dermaplaning costs $150 a treatment, and if you're worried about the peach fuzz growing back even thicker...Doctors say that's an old wives tale.
