The Flavor Point Diet
If you're still trying to slim down before summer there's another diet making the rounds. It's called the Flavor Point Diet.
It looks like a gourmet restaurant, but this is actually a hospital cafeteria. And this what you could eat if you were on the Flavor Point Diet.
"Normally I would want chocolate all the time and this did help with my cravings," says Lisa Seaberg. Lisa is one of 17 people who tested out the Flavor Point Diet for Dr. David Katz's book.
Dr. Katz says, "The appetite center of the brain is hardwired so that each different flavor category in food stimulates different cells there. The more flavors you jumble together in any one meal, snack, or mouthful, the more appetite you turn on, the more calories it takes to feel full."
Dr. Katz's says the more specific the flavor placement in a meal; the healthier the outcome. "The concept is very simple. Arrange flavors thoughtfully you can have delicious food, fill up on fewer calories," explains Dr. Katz.
Dr. Katz's wife created the recipes for the book. She's also a neuroscientist, native of France, and mother of five.
Dr. Katz says, "It is quick, it is easy. And it is something that has been proven in the real world setting in a busy family's home."
Lisa says changing her eating habits was a bit of an adjustment. But after 12 weeks she lost 12 pounds and she's still going. She says, "I'm very happy I took part in it. I permanently changed my eating habits."
Dr. Katz says if you follow the Flavor Point Diet you can expect to lose 16 pounds in six weeks. The book costs $25.
